Does our security actually work?
A green dashboard is not proof. Policies state expectations. Scanners produce evidence. Neither automatically means the business is protected.

The problem
Products and acronyms multiply. Meanwhile: What do we actually have? Who still has access? Will backups rebuild the business? Who notices at 2 a.m.?

Our MSP says everything is fine.
Providers can be capable and still leave important assumptions untested. Independence means verifying contracted controls, monitoring, and SLAs against reality.
We are surrounded by products and acronyms.
Too much cybersecurity is sold backward: start with a product, create urgency, then find a reason you need it. Black Flag starts with the organization.
A contract or insurer is asking questions.
What equipment do we have? Who still has access? Can backups rebuild the business? If an account is compromised at two in the morning, who notices — and what happens next?
How we answer
Evidence first. The question comes first; the tool follows. Least complicated solution that reliably solves the problem.
01
Establish the expected environment and build the factual picture of what actually exists.
02
Interact with selected controls and evidence sources to determine whether they operate as claimed.
03
Correct material weaknesses without creating unnecessary dependence on Black Flag.
04
Leave the people who operate the environment better able to recognize problems and escalate what they should.
05
Verify that the condition actually changed — evidence over punch lists.
Working together
We understand before prescribing, verify before concluding, and explain before alarming. A Baseline assessment is a legitimate assessment — not bait for a larger package. Scope is tailored to your environment and objectives after a conversation, not a predetermined technology package.
Sometimes the right answer is fixing a configuration. Sometimes it is helping your MSP do its job better. Sometimes it is telling you the technology you already own is adequate — and you do not need to buy anything else.
Independence
We are not a managed-service company disguised as an assessment firm. We are not a software reseller looking for a reason to sell another license. We are not interested in a hundred-page report that proves vocabulary.
Before recommending that you buy anything, we want to understand what you already own, whether it is configured properly, and whether it is solving the problem you bought it to solve. When belief, provider promises, documentation, and demonstrable operation disagree — that difference is where investigation starts.
Credibility
